In case you haven’t noticed, it’s Friday! As a kid of the 80’s, I grew up with a TGIF mentality. And frankly, I’m just pooped.
Work, life, family, friends. It never stops, and this has been a particularly hard week. I have family and friends in the hospital that I can’t get too. Work has been work and more. Two days of business travel, four full days of client meetings, and add in an unexpected trip to the pediatrician on Tuesday before flying out to deal with an unexpected allergic reaction to the sun. Seriously, what do you do if your 3-year old has an allergic reaction to the SUN?
Flew home last night to a sink full of dishes and a mysterious smell in my house that I can’t find to fix. Wait! No! Two smells! Stinky food smell AND stinky old pee smell that is somewhere in the potty-training toddler’s rooms but unidentifiable.
Today, after client meetings from 8:30 to 3pm, I’ll admit that I’m tapped out. I’m staring at my computer with a blank face and couldn’t care less what the email says that I’m reading.
So what did I do? I gave up. I’m done and it’s ok! I’ve worked my butt off for 4.75 days and I’m signing off at 4pm. Shhh! Don’t tell my boss… Don’t tell my clients… Don’t tell my hubby.
Instead, I’m snuggled up next to a beautiful 7-year old watching Evan Almighty and trying to decide what to order for dinner, because I refuse to cook!
So, please tell me that I’m not the only one playing at least a little bit of hooky in this final Friday of April. My house may smell, may dishes are dirty, and there are 2376 emails in my work inbox, but I’m done for the week…or at least for today. I got a SnuggleBunny next to me and a movie to watch!
Take a Friday Funday! It’s 5pm somewhere….
